I'm thinking of doing a few posts of what I've found with hair care for myself. I have naturally blonde hair, it's very fine but there is a lot of it so it can be a bit of a mount to get through. Add to this that it can get very dry if I'm not careful and then goes seriously frizzy, making getting through it even harder!
Now that we are well and truly out of the summer months in the U.K. it has come to the time when I think about making sure my blonde hair doesn't get really dull. In the summer this is something I don't worry too much about as the sun naturally lightens my hair but the sun seems to like hiding now and I'm relying on my old faithful products to help me out. I would also like to add that I've suggested these products to friends with dyed blonde hair over the past few years and all of them have also said that it works for them too in reducing brassy tones etc.
The first product I am going to talk about is Aveda Blue Malva shampoo. This is without a doubt my favourite product for lightening my hair. I simply love Aveda and even go to a salon which only uses their products. It smells amazing and does a fantastic job. But. Theres always a but isn't there? You can only buy a litre of this shampoo which is £27 and the conditioner comes in at a whopping £20 for 250ml. I do feel this is completely worth the money but I am still a student so I almost cry a little bit parting with the guts of £50 for shampoo and conditioner.
The next product I love for giving blonde hair a helping hand is Daddy-O from Lush. This smells of violets which is just amazing. Of course we shouldn't be swayed by such things but I am completely. This does, however, still do exactly what it says on the tin..or bottle...
This costs £16.75 for 500g. This always confuses me a bit but I'm fairly sure that 1g roughly equals 1ml. This does therefore (I think) mean that Aveda is better value for money and in my personal opinion is a little bit more nourishing for the hair. Also, Lush doesn't do a matching conditioner for this shampoo which is not big deal I suppose. I just normally use the American Cream one with it.
The final one I'm unsure about putting in if I'm honest. It's not bad but it's not fantastic by any means I think. It is called A Touch of Silver and is aimed at blonde and grey hair and claims to reduce brassy tones. I mean its alright..I use it as an every day shampoo and conditioner just to clean my hair and would be more inclined to use it when my hair is quite light anyway after summer but I really don't think it makes any big difference in lightening hair colour. But on the plus side it's only a few pounds in Boots.
So there you have it - I hope this is helpful for you and if you use any products you think I might like please let me know! I do love an excuse to try something new.
